Zimbabwe received $10.7 billion in foreign currency

According to the latest economic survey by FBC Securities, foreign currency receipts in Zimbabwe increased by 47.8% and reached a record $10.72 billion in the first half of 2026 (compared with $7.25 billion in the same period last year).
The sharp increase was mainly due to an increase in export revenues, as well as a significant increase in diaspora remittances and the resumption of foreign direct investment.
Export revenue accounted for the largest share of Zimbabwe's foreign exchange earnings, reaching $7.53 billion, which is 90.7% more than in the first half of 2025. Money transfers from the diaspora increased by 41.4% during this period and amounted to $1.55 billion.
Foreign direct investment has more than doubled over this period, reaching $269.9 million, indicating increased investor interest, despite Zimbabwe's long-standing problems related to politics, infrastructure, and access to finance.
