Nigeria launches deepwater oil production project

Nigeria’s national oil company NNPC and partners Shell, Esso and Agip have signed additional agreements to the production sharing contract and dispute settlement agreement on the Bonga Southwest-Aparo deepwater hydrocarbon production project.
During the signing, the parties announced the successful completion of the preliminary engineering research stage and the transition to the design stage, as well as the selection of a contractor for floating storage and unloading of products.
The Bonga SouthWest-Aparo project is expected to become one of the largest deepwater projects in Nigeria, with the potential to attract investments of between 15 and 21 billion US dollars and achieve maximum production of about 175,000 barrels of oil and 140 million cubic feet of gas per day.
