Kenya to receive 1,000 electric buses

On August 26, 2026, the Kenyan National Bank of Africa (NCBA) and the electric vehicle manufacturing company BasiGo announced a partnership to finance and deploy 1,000 electric buses throughout Kenya.
The deal will allow corporations, schools, small and medium-sized enterprises, and transportation companies to access leasing or lending of up to 90% of the cost of a vehicle when purchasing new electric buses.
Basigo intends to produce and supply 1,000 electric buses to Kenyan organizations over the next three years. For this purpose, production capacities will be increased at a specialized electric bus assembly line at the company's Kenyan plant.
At the moment, Basigo, an electric vehicle startup, has attracted investments of at least $52.1 million. The company plans to continue its mission of providing environmentally friendly transportation in sub-Saharan Africa.
