Côte d'Ivoire's cashew production reaches new record
In the first five months of 2026, Côte d'Ivoire exported a record 44,403 tons of cashew, an increase of 51% compared to the same period last year, and became the world's second largest exporter of this product after Vietnam.
A new sales record for cashews was also recorded in the domestic market, where more than 1 million tons were sold, and 60% of these volumes will be processed by local companies.
The growth of domestic production was made possible by government support measures, which include an export premium, as well as exemption from customs duties and value-added tax on industrial equipment and imported spare parts.
The number of operating processing plants has more than doubled over the past decade, rising from 17 in 2016 to 37 in 2025, while total installed processing capacity has reached 830,000 tons.
