Avocado exports from Tanzania have grown by 120%
Tanzania's avocado exports rose by 120.4% year-on-year in the 2025/26 season. Over a five-year period, export revenues more than doubled, climbing from $44.2 million in 2020/21 to $97.2 million in 2025/26.
Export volumes grew by 237% during the same period, rising from 15,433 tonnes to 52,000 tonnes. This figure already exceeds the national target of 40,000 tonnes set for 2030.
National avocado production increased from 149,340 tonnes in 2020/21 to 203,473 tonnes in 2025/26—an increase of approximately 36%.
