A trans-African expedition on electric vehicles has started in Rwanda
The Road to Lusaka expedition, which is part of the larger Road to Africa initiative, has started in Rwanda. The expedition participants, traveling on electric vehicles across East and Southern Africa, will study the level of development of infrastructure for electric transport in various countries of the continent.
The aim of the expedition is to assess the availability of infrastructure, electric vehicle charging capabilities, border crossings, logistics systems, and broader prospects for electrification of transport and major transport corridors in Africa.
The route starts in the capital of Rwanda and passes through Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique, crossing key sections of the Central Corridor and Trans-African Highways No. 4 and No. 9. The total length of the Kigali-Beira route is 4,730 km.
