A robot performed a surgical operation in Algeria
On Thursday, August 6, 2026, Algeria's first robotic prostate surgery was performed on a 67-year-old patient at a clinic in Birtouta, near the capital.
The operation was performed under the supervision of Dr. Khelifa Ait Said, an Algerian urologist specializing in robotic surgery, currently working in France, together with Dr. Mahmoud Laredj, a resident urologist at the clinic.
The robotic operation has become an important step in the development of modern technology in the country.
